At its Oct. 30 meeting the Lakewood Board of Education approved a broad set of personnel actions contained in the Superintendent’s Agenda. Certified personnel actions included resignations and retirements; multiple leaves of absence for medical, FMLA and caregiver reasons (some intermittent); transfers between schools to address enrollment and program needs; and several appointments (teachers, nurses) listed as emergent or contingent on completion of state criminal history background checks.
Non‑certified items included paraprofessional and secretary transfers, new paraprofessional hires and breakfast aide appointments and terminations. The agenda also recorded a declined grants‑account hire and replacement selections in the grants office. Multiple co‑curricular stipends, club advisor appointments, and coach hires for winter sports were recorded with account codes.
Why it matters: staffing moves affect classroom coverage, special education services and after‑school program continuity. The board’s approvals allow the district to fill vacancies, comply with special education placements and staff extracurricular programs.
Next steps: newly appointed staff must provide required new‑hire documentation prior to start dates; several appointments are conditioned on state criminal history approval; administrators will implement transfers and update payroll and personnel records.
