The Lakewood Board of Education on Oct. 30 approved its consent agenda, which included bills lists, payrolls and a range of transportation contract awards. The board approved a warrant bills list of $11,584,861.76, a supplemental bills list of $8,174,992.02 and cafeteria payments of $440,064.91. Payroll approvals covered the Sept. 30, Oct. 15 and Oct. 30 pay periods, each totaling more than $3 million.
The business agenda also recorded and awarded multiple transportation RFQs and bids and approved parental contracts for students requiring specialized transportation. The agenda lists per‑diem rates and awarded vendors for individual routes; for example, parental per‑diem arrangements of $83.84/day were approved for three student routes for significant medical needs, and multiple RFQ awards were recorded for McKinney‑Vento student transports. Motion to approve the business agenda was made by Shlomo Stern and seconded by Moshe Raitzik; the motion carried.
Board Secretary and Business Administrator Kevin Campbell certified the financial reports and transfers for September 2024 in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:23A‑16.10 and N.J.S.A. 18A:22‑8/8.1. The agenda included itemized awards and accounts for each transportation contract and noted which budget lines would fund each award.
Why it matters: the bills and payroll approvals represent routine monthly district operating expenditures; the transportation awards include individualized parental contracts and RFQ/bid awards that affect student routing and district vendor obligations for the 2024–25 school year.
Next steps: awards and contracts noted in the consent agenda will be administered through the district’s purchasing and transportation offices and funded from the budget accounts listed in the agenda.
