Lockport council approves radios purchase, adopts compliance questionnaire and schedules millage hearing

The Town of Lockport council on Aug. 20 approved a set of routine administrative and event items, including the purchase of new police radios, acceptance of financial documents and the adoption of a compliance resolution.
Councilman Ernest Boudreaux moved to purchase new radios from Service Communications under State Contract #4400022343 for $11,850.24; Councilman Rodney Hartman seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The council also accepted the police report (which noted a Blue Mass on Sept. 25 at St. Joseph and Night Out Against Crime on Oct. 1), approved the budget-to-actual financial statements for July, and approved the minutes for July 16 as amended.
The council adopted Resolution 2024-05 to complete the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire for the year ending June 30, 2024 by motion of Councilman Rodney Hartman and second of Councilman Tyler Detillier. Councilman Ernest Boudreaux moved to change the September meeting date from Sept. 17 to Sept. 24; Councilman Gary Acosta seconded and the motion carried. Councilman Ernest Boudreaux also moved and Councilman Gary Acosta seconded a motion calling a public hearing to adopt the general alimony millage rate for 2024.
Several public-event approvals were recorded: Council approved a Veteran’s Appreciation Day on Nov. 9, 2024 (motion by Councilman Tyler Detillier, second by Councilman Gary Acosta) and a tentative candlelight vigil for Sept. 14 (motion by Councilman Gary Acosta, second by Councilwoman Bobbie Galjour). The meeting closed with a unanimous motion to adjourn at 7:41 p.m.
