Mayor Barry Plaisance told the Town of Lockport council on Aug. 20 that the town submitted a line-of-credit application for capital outlay to fund road repairs and related infrastructure work, the first such submission since 2014.
Representatives from GIS and T Baker Smith presented engineering reports to the council. The mayor reported completion of some sewer-leak repairs and said the blowers at the town's sewer plant have been repaired; councilmembers discussed buying an additional blower in the future. Councilman Ernest Boudreaux raised drainage problems on Comeaux Drive and requested updates on Longview Apartments; no formal action was recorded on those items at the meeting.
Councilman Tyler Detillier reported rotten utility poles in town and said he had contacted Entergy about replacements. The mayor also noted mosquito spraying activities and reminded residents to be prepared for hurricane season. The council recorded an anonymous donor's pledge to provide a fence around the park play area to support community events.
The engineers' presentations and the mayor's updates provide the council with project status and next steps; councilmembers asked staff and engineers to continue follow-up work and report back as plans are developed and funding becomes available.
