The council approved the candlelight vigil by motion from Councilman Gary Acosta and a second from Councilwoman Galjour.
The action follows sustained community concern about local suicides earlier this year. Organizers and the council said they will finalize logistics and publicize details once times, permits and site arrangements are confirmed.
