Goodhue County approves four SEMMCHRA-administered Housing Trust Fund awards totaling up to $412,000

The Goodhue County Board voted June 16 to fund four projects through the 2026 Goodhue County Housing Trust Fund, with awards to be administered by SEMMCHRA. The board approved the following awards by motion: a $30,000 grant to Cannon Falls Housing Initiative to assist with a lot purchase for the Hardwood Estates project; a $79,211 grant to SEMMCHRA to preserve affordability at a public housing four‑plex in Zumbrota; a deferred loan up to $240,000 to Three Rivers Community Action for preservation of Stonehouse Apartment and Bridge Run Townhomes in Cannon Falls (contingent on state funding and six project‑based vouchers secured through SEMMCHRA); and a half‑grant/half five‑year deferred loan to Wanamingo Land Company for $62,788.83 (or the amount of a second bid, whichever is lower) to preserve affordability at the Hillcrest seven‑plex in Wanamingo, contingent on stated project conditions.
Commissioner Anderson moved approval of the SEMMCHRA recommendations; the motion carried 5-0. The resolution adopted the awards as presented and recorded contingencies where noted in the motion language.
The funding decisions are intended to create and preserve affordable housing in Goodhue County through small to mid‑sized capital awards and loans. The board did not specify additional reporting requirements beyond SEMMCHRA’s administration and the contingencies attached to two of the awards.
