During the public hearing on the proposed sale of city property at 17 North Street, Bill Coffey of 19 Dana Road told the council he is a long-time member of his fire company and asked that any money from the sale be allocated to Battalion 31.
Coffey said battalion leaders are planning an addition to the rear of the old Germantown Firehouse that he estimated at about $750,000 and asked that sale proceeds be directed to help defray that cost. He said consolidation of other firehouses has increased the burden on the battalion and that funds from the sale of 17 North Street should go "directly to Battalion 31."
The council heard no other speakers on this item before moving to close the public-comment period; no formal disposition of the sale was taken at the hearing.
