During a public hearing convened by Peter Bizaid, president of the Danbury City Council, Leandro Francesc Fiasco, owner of Art Club Tattooing & Piercing at 410 Main Street, urged the council to consider the practical and financial impacts of a proposed ordinance for body-piercing and tattoo establishments.
Fiasco said tenants often cannot require building owners to make structural changes and that mandatory infrastructure upgrades could be prohibitively costly for small shops. "It will be a huge impact," he said, adding that his business has been in town for about 10 years and that zoning restrictions limit relocation options.
He suggested less disruptive alternatives such as enhanced training and inspections and expressed a willingness to work with the city to ensure safety while preserving small businesses.
The council took comments during the public hearing and did not debate or adopt the ordinance at that time.
