Pongraz said Apollo High School welcomed nearly 30 new students and added a full‑time social worker, Diana Mendoza, plus two new teachers and four new programs: work‑experience credits, a digital photography class funded by Proposition 28, an early childhood education pathway with field experience, and a dedicated academic‑support period to help students recover credits. "Apollo is excited about all these new programs and knows that it'll lead to higher credit completion and improved graduation rates," Pongraz said.
He also reported that Monte Vista Independent Learning Academy appointed a new principal, Kate Snowden, and hired a counselor, Jessica Thunberg; Royal High School hosted a successful club rush and launched a positive‑behavior raffle; Santa Susana welcomed over 1,000 students to start the year and held a performing‑arts fundraiser; and Simi Valley High opened a unified sports class earning PE credit and reported a 49–41 varsity football win over Valencia.
Trustees thanked Pongraz for the summary and said student reports are a highlight of the meeting. The board received the student report as informational.
