At the March 3 meeting council members approved the minutes from the Feb. 3 regular meeting. Councilman James Linton moved to approve the minutes and Councilman Robbie Liles seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Town Clerk Kylee Watts raised an internal staffing issue and proposed closing the town office from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. so staff could take lunch together; staff discussed the proposal and the group decided to develop a staggered lunch schedule rather than institute a daily closure.
Mayor Glenn Odom reported efforts to address dilapidated homes and containers in town, noting that state law requires specific steps before the town can remove structures. The mayor also said staff are issuing tickets and using animal traps to address stray dogs but the animal-control pound is full.
During public comment an audience member identified as Virginia asked for a physical information board because not everyone uses Facebook; Odom said the new municipal building will include a lighted, changeable board.
Mayor Odom moved to adjourn; James Linton seconded, and the meeting adjourned.
