Mayor Glenn Odom reported that U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham had secured $250,000 "for equipment" for the Town Police Department, but stressed the town had not received official paperwork from the U.S. Department of Justice at the time of the meeting.
"Senator Lindsey Graham got the Town Police Department $250,000 for equipment. So as soon as we get that officially from DOJ, we will get it to Jackie to go in the newspaper. But we have not received it yet," Odom said.
Council members did not vote on any appropriation or accept any funds at the meeting. The mayor’s statement was presented as a report of prospective funding; the council did not receive supporting documents or a formal grant award during the session.
The council said it will publicize any confirmed award once the Department of Justice provides official notice and paperwork.
