Commissioners debated whether to approve the 2024 annual report at the Jan. 14 meeting or to schedule additional review. Staff noted no emailed comments had been received in advance. Senator Regina Barrow asked about the timing for issuing the report; Dr. Tavell Kindall recommended caution if any commissioners felt they had not reviewed the document thoroughly.
Ten of 18 commissioners expressed a desire to vote that day. Dr. Myra Kleinpeter suggested scheduling another meeting for further discussion, while Ms. Aimee Cloyd and Ms. Rebecca DeLaSalle ultimately registered abstentions on the final motion.
Dr. Phillip Griffin moved to approve the report with recommended edits; Dr. Samuel Burgess seconded. The roll-call vote recorded 14 in favor, 2 opposed (Dr. Myra Kleinpeter and Ms. Meta Smith-Davis) and 2 abstentions (Ms. Rebecca DeLaSalle and Ms. Aimee Cloyd). The motion carried. Staff indicated a final draft will be issued to the commission before broader dissemination.
No statutory or budgetary actions were taken as part of the vote; commissioners directed staff to circulate the finalized document.
