Riverside Board adopts budget calendar, personnel changes and policy revisions

At its Dec. 11 regular meeting, the Riverside Township Board of Education approved a package of routine governance, personnel and budget items, including adoption of the 2026–2027 budget calendar, approval of financial reports, multiple personnel actions and the adoption of revised policies with one reading.
On finance matters the board unanimously approved the Board Secretary's Report, the Treasurer's Report and related cafeteria, student activity and athletic financial reports (all dated Oct. 31, 2025), authorized budget-line transfers permitted by the State Department of Education, and approved payment of the Dec. 11 bills. The budget calendar for 2026–2027 was adopted as presented.
On personnel matters the board approved staff development activities; rescinded an offer of employment to Ella Cannuli (ES Pre‑K teacher), approved a contract rescission and reappointment for Crystal Hanna (RES Café Aide to RES 3‑hour Ambulatory Aide at $22.40/hr), authorized several new hires and placements (details and start dates in agenda attachments), approved Tammy Harmon as a custodial substitute pending criminal-history review, and approved termination of Employee No. 1327 for job abandonment effective Dec. 2, 2025. The board also revised HIB specialist assignments across elementary and middle grades.
The board voted to raise substitute rates for substitute secretaries, crossing guards/café aides and custodians to $15.92 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2026 to align with the New Jersey minimum wage. The board approved a revision to an extra‑curricular stipend split for the Language Club and confirmed other extra‑curricular appointments including Nicole Barbich as Third Grade Teacher Leader at a prorated stipend.
Under policy, the board suspended Bylaw 0131 to permit a one-reading adoption and approved revised policies 9130 and 2530, revised regulation 9130 and new regulation 2530. Committee reports were not presented and the meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
