DDA approves website refresh, authorizes up to $5,500 for redesign

Staff presenter (Staff member, S2) told board members the materials attached to the meeting packet list a website provider as “PixAlert” and that the work would add sponsor/ad space, Facebook Live integration and an integrated events calendar. The packet showed a not-to-exceed figure listed as $5,000 in one place and $5,500 in another; the board approved a motion authorizing up to $5,500.
Board members pressed for hands-on involvement in content and structure. Committee member (Committee member, S5) said the DDA should supply subject-matter expertise and content rather than leaving layout decisions solely to the designer: "We are the subject matter experts on what the DDA needs in terms of what we want the site to accomplish," the member said. Another member urged that staff serve as a project manager to ensure the site reflects the DDA’s priorities rather than a generic template.
Staff said the scope of work includes the general site layout and a sitemap and estimated the project would take about 90 days, depending on board availability and committee input. Members suggested the economic vitality committee meet with the vendor to provide feedback and requested that staff gather visual mock-ups and site maps before final implementation.
The motion to proceed with the website refresh and authorize funding under the organizational budget not to exceed $5,500 was made, seconded and approved by voice votes from attending members. The DDA also agreed to route design feedback through staff and the economic vitality committee to refine priorities and content before launch.
