Township approves Nisivoccia budget agreement and bill lists; residents report online tax-payment errors

At its May 6 meeting the West Amwell Township Committee approved several administrative items and addressed a technical problem with the township’s online tax-payment system.
The Committee agreed by motion to authorize Nisivoccia to prepare the 2026 municipal budget; Mayor Robin Deal said Nisivoccia will not release the township’s budget until an agreement is signed. The motion to approve the proposal was made by Deputy Mayor Joan Vanderveen and seconded by Robert Balaam and passed by voice vote.
On payroll and bills, the Committee approved the 4/30/26 bill list by roll call (Balaam, Fitting, Hoyer, Vanderveen, Deal: Yes). For the 4/23/26 bill list, Committeeman Brian Fitting objected to paying Colliers invoices tied to a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan that he described as unusable and to incomplete documents dating to 2024; the Committee approved the 4/23/26 bill list with the Colliers bills removed by roll call vote.
On online tax payments, Mayor Deal said two residents reported setting up automatic tax payments through the township system but both incurred interest fees because the system did not complete the scheduled payments. She asked that staff investigate the problem; no specific remedy was recorded in the minutes.
What happens next: the clerk will handle execution of the Nisivoccia agreement and the committee directed staff to investigate the online payment glitches and to work with the township’s payment vendor to determine causes and potential redress.
