Weymouth Committee approves $288,516.20 in vouchers, reviews Pennsylvania Avenue resurfacing plan

Weymouth Township Committee members unanimously approved vouchers totaling $288,516.20 and accepted routine departmental and engineering reports during a Dec. 3, 2025 regular meeting that also reviewed a resurfacing plan for Pennsylvania Avenue and scheduled follow-up on state rent control.

Mayor Kenneth R. Haeser called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m., led the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence, and the Township Clerk read the required Public Law 1975, Chapter 231 (Sunshine Law) statement. Committee members present were Norton, Keiffenheim and Haeser.

Engineer Michael Fralinger Jr. reviewed his monthly report, saying design plans for the 2025 NJDOT resurfacing of Pennsylvania Avenue are wrapping up with the hope of a bid opening in late September; he also said the 2023–2024 ACIA CDBG project requires a conference call to discuss design. The committee moved to accept the Engineer’s report and approved it by roll call vote (Norton-yes; Keiffenheim-yes; Haeser-yes).

Superintendent of Public Works Ronald C. Carroll reported the township-managed school flashing lights on 11th Avenue need new batteries and that keys previously given to the school could not be located; Carroll said he will obtain a set of keys from Atlantic County and be trained on the lights’ operation.

The committee approved the vouchers for payment totaling $288,516.20 on a unanimous roll call (Norton-yes; Keiffenheim-yes; Haeser-yes). Clerk Dorothy-Jo Ayres submitted the November reports, which the committee placed on file by unanimous vote.

In Old Business, members discussed a letter from Hamilton Township about an upcoming meeting concerning a Weymouth Township Municipal Utilities Authority rate change; no MUA representatives were expected to attend that meeting. The committee said it is awaiting insurance documents from the MUA for a draft shared services agreement.

Under New Business, members discussed the recently enacted state rent control and agreed to set up a meeting with the Rent Control Board in the new year to address next steps.

During the public comment period, a resident complimented the township’s "Winter Wonderland" set up for the tree lighting, which the mayor said was rescheduled to Dec. 4 at 6:15 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:19 p.m.

Actions recorded at the meeting include motions to open and close public comment, acceptance of the Clerk, Public Works and Engineer reports, approval of vouchers totaling $288,516.20, and the adjournment vote. No formal ordinances, resolutions, appointments or other binding actions were adopted at this session.
