EID board delays vote on $54,000 rooftop lighting proposal after pricing questions

The EID board in Goshen City reviewed a proposal for rooftop holiday lighting that staff said would cost roughly $54,000 a year and questioned how that compared with the roughly $12,000 to $13,000 the city has paid this year.
Chair (S1) introduced the spreadsheet and asked staff to summarize costs. Staff member (S5) said the proposal called for the vendor to supply, install and maintain new rooftop lighting and that the quoted annual cost would be about $54,000. S5 also cited Sign Tech invoices showing $10,518 for downtown sign services and about $2,626 to remove Christmas lights this year.
Committee members pressed for clarity on an apparent line in the vendor proposal that listed $7,200; S5 acknowledged uncertainty about whether that figure was per installation or per week and said staff would clarify. S4 said the board could continue renting decorations this year while exploring a purchase later, adding, "I would be happy to make that motion that we rent the rates for once and more and continue as we have the sign tech." The motion was later withdrawn to allow staff time to verify pricing and contract terms.
The board did not take a final vote on purchasing rooftop lights. Members asked staff to follow up with the vendor and to return a clarified proposal before the board considers a binding commitment; S1 said the group would plan for a vote in August after additional information is collected.
