The hearing drew public comment from resident Bert Chandler, who said drivers travel at high speeds near the park on Worman's Road and described difficulty crossing the road. Chandler asked whether the borough could require county approval for certain safety improvements; council members and staff said the road is a county road for some segments and that prior traffic studies and requests for a traffic light had been rejected by the county, though some sidewalk and crosswalk work has been authorized.
Council proceeded to adopt the bond ordinance by roll-call vote with unanimous affirmative responses recorded in the meeting minutes. The council noted that some improvements will require coordination with Bergen County and assigned follow-up to public works and the engineering department to pursue county approvals and next steps.
The bond ordinance and the capital work it funds were discussed during the budget hearing and are consistent with the capital line in the adopted 2026 budget. The council did not amend the ordinance following public comment; staff said further design and permitting discussions will determine the scope of intersection work.
