Woodland Park Board approves multiple personnel changes, hires and leaves
Summary
The Board unanimously approved an omnibus personnel motion including rescinding an earlier appointment, accepting two resignations, approving new hires (including two Pre-K teachers), leave requests, stipends and substitute-list changes.
The Woodland Park Board of Education voted unanimously Aug. 26 to approve a package of personnel actions under agenda numbers 225-68 through 225-80.
The motion, made by Board member MaryAnn Perro and seconded by Kim Galbraith, carried on an 8-0 roll call. The action formally rescinded the appointment of Christina Chandras and accepted resignations from part-time aide Frances Maglio (effective Sept. 13, 2024) and Giuseppe Pollicino, an ELA teacher at Memorial School (effective Oct. 18, 2024, or sooner if a replacement is found).
Approved hires include Gabrielle Lambert and Jessah Logan-Magnusson as Pre-K teachers (BA, Step 1, $60,560, pending required paperwork). The board also approved Dyana Kotob as a maternity-leave replacement at Bear Gulch (effective Sept. 3—Dec. 20, 2024) at a rate of $175 per diem; part-time aides Ayla Brito, Danean Harrington and Tiyahna Guy at $26.85/hour (not to exceed 28.5 hours per week); and on-call substitute custodian Jessier Soriano at $20/hour (no benefits).
Separately, the board approved the appointment of retired nurse Linda Saundry as the district school nurse at $63,000 per year (no benefits), citing N.J.S. 18A:66-53.2 for retired-nurse employment status. The board granted paternity leave for Luftar Zeneli (Sept. 16—Dec. 6, 2024) with expected return Dec. 9, 2024, and ratified workshop/travel reimbursement of $150 for Elis Francisco. The board also approved Nancy Maglio to the active substitute teacher list and authorized up to 30 additional summer hours for Teresa Carbonelli at $47/hour.
Board members did not expand discussion on the items during the public meeting; all personnel motions were handled as routine business in a single omnibus motion.
