Dr. Michele Pillari, superintendent of the Woodland Park School District, told the Board on Aug. 26 that the district's Student Safety Data System report for Jan. 1——6, 2024 recorded 12 confirmed harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB) incidents and 15 alleged incidents.
Pillari said the incidents included one act described as a simple threat and that the HIB allegations were categorized as one national-origin case, three religion-related, eight race-related and 15 involving other distinguishing characteristics. Investigators Donna Farraye and Kathryn Williams were named in the report; Pillari said the status of all investigations is closed.
Sanctions described in the report included out-of-school suspensions (one student received five days; three students received one day), the deprivation of at least one school event for one student and an HIB intervention plan for a student on a third offense. Recommended remedial measures listed in the report included restorative practices, schedule changes when necessary and follow-ups with guidance counselors for both alleged offenders and targets.
The report was presented as part of the Superintendent's update; no public commenters came forward during the hearing portion of the meeting. The Board did not take additional public action on the SSDS findings during the Aug. 26 session.
