Rochelle Park board approves June HIB report, amends record to show six suspensions

The Rochelle Park Board of Education approved the district's June 2025 Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) report at a special meeting June 24 and amended the resolution on the record to state that six student suspensions occurred in June.
Board President Scott Kral read the meeting notice under the Open Public Meetings Act before the board considered routine resolutions. The HIB report, presented by Superintendent Dr. Sue DeNobile, included a month-by-month table of opened and closed HIB cases and suspensions for the school year. The June line in the table carried an asterisk that prompted clarification.
Board member Joseph Marolda asked for clarification about the June suspension count. In the subsequent motion to approve R1 (the HIB report) and R2 (drill reports), moved by Board Member Christina Holz and seconded by Board Member Elaine Rainone, the board recorded and amended R1 to read that June included six suspensions. The motion passed on a roll call vote of 6-0.
The board did not take additional disciplinary action at the meeting. The HIB resolution was approved "upon the recommendation of the Superintendent" and will be reflected in the district's official record.
The board next moved on to finance and personnel business. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 26, 2025.
