Alachua County DRC approves Rock Church plan for new administration and storage buildings

Jacob Stout, planner for Growth Management, told the Development Review Committee that staff found the revised final development plan for the Rock Church administration and storage buildings consistent with county rules and recommended approval with conditions.

"With that, staff finds the revised final development plan is consistent with the Alachua County comprehensive plan, unified land development code, and preliminary development plan, and staff recommends approval with conditions of the revised final development plan for the Rock Church administration and storage buildings," Jacob Stout said.

Stout presented the project as a proposal to construct a 4,830-square-foot administration building and a 1,790-square-foot storage building on a roughly 160-acre parcel at 10901 West Newberry Road, noting that only about a half acre of the site will be impacted and the area proposed for construction is already developed. He said the uses were anticipated in the original preliminary development plan and that required infrastructure (parking and stormwater) is in place.

Mitchell Mason of CHW Engineers, representing the applicant, said he had no additional information but was available to answer questions. Committee members asked no questions and no members of the public spoke during the public-comment period on this item.

A committee member moved to approve the revised final development plan with conditions; Jacob Stout seconded the motion. The chair called the voice vote and the motion passed.

The committee recorded the approval with conditions; no immediate challenges or party-status requests were raised during the hearing.
