The University City City Council received two ordinance introductions at the March 23 meeting.
The clerk read Bill 9580 (first reading), described as an ordinance amending section 600.09 of the University City Municipal Code to allow the issuance of an intoxicating liquor license to certain performing arts schools. The bill was introduced by Council member Fuller; it was entered for first reading, and no adoption vote occurred that evening.
The clerk also read Bill 9581 (first reading), an ordinance submitted to add section 215.236 to the municipal code to prohibit entertainment devices offering monetary prizes. Council member Brenner introduced the reading. As with Bill 9580, the measure was placed on first reading with no final action recorded.
Both measures will return to the council for further consideration at a subsequent meeting; the clerk and council did not specify a date for second reading or public hearing during the March 23 session.
