The ceremony also recognized long-serving staff across multiple tenures. The event noted deputies and staff who reached 20- and 25-year milestones. In a separate segment, Lieutenant John Mazer was honored on the occasion of his retirement after a 33-year career that included roles in patrol, courts, marine patrol, training, coroner's duties and leadership of county task forces, including the Solano County Mobile Field Force and the interagency countywide HAZMAT emergency response team. Duallen noted Mazer's work establishing a peer-support team and his role developing de-escalation curriculum for state POST training.
Speakers at the ceremony encouraged well-wishes for Ferraro and Mazer and thanked family members for their support. The event concluded with additional awards and refreshments.
