Douglas County approves alcohol license for The Preserve’s nutrition center; issuance held until certificate of occupancy

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners approved an on‑premises alcohol license for A to Z Naturals LLC (applicant Arjun Malakala) to serve beer, wine and liquor at the Nutrition Center in The Preserve, located at 40 Farm Lane, Douglasville. The item was heard during a public hearing on July 7.
Manager Duncan (county staff) told the board that building-inspection staff are working with the applicant toward final inspections and that ‘‘we will not issue the alcohol license should it be approved until such a time as there is a certificate of occupancy on the building,’’ a standard county practice.
Attorney Joe Fowler, representing the applicant, described the facility as a full-service restaurant that will largely use on-site grown produce and encouraged commissioners to visit the site. Fowler said the nutrition center is ‘‘one of the most outstanding buildings in West Georgia’’ and offered tours for commissioners.
No members of the public spoke in opposition. After closing the public hearing, the board moved and approved issuance of the license by unanimous vote, 5–0, while retaining the county’s condition that the license not be issued until a final certificate of occupancy is confirmed.
The license is for on-premises consumption of beer, wine and liquor at the Nutrition Center; the transcript did not record an exact date for issuance or the final inspection timeline.
