Millbury held its regular council meeting on Jan. 12, 2026, where Mayor Mike Timmons swore in newly appointed council members and the council approved a slate of 2026 appointments and positions. Councilman Sanders was nominated and confirmed as council president, and the council reviewed departmental activity and year-end finances for 2025.
The council completed organizational business early in the meeting. Mayor Mike Timmons administered oaths to Councilmen Abbey and Sanders and later to Tim Clapsaddle and Larry Ellison after a motion by Councilman Mikolajczyk to appoint the two; Councilman Mangus seconded and the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous. The council also voted to approve the mayor's list of 2026 appointments and positions, again by unanimous roll call.
The meeting included routine reports from public safety and village departments. A Lake Township police officer summarized December 2025 activity, listing 139 extra patrols, seven traffic stops, one traffic citation and a range of calls including medical issues, disabled vehicles and one sex offense; the report also recorded one open-door incident. Councilman Sanders reported the Fire Department responded to 10 EMS calls and one fire in the village during the reporting period.
Officials presented the village's year-end financial figures. Income tax revenue was reported at $423,908.21, a $83,542.63 decrease from 2024. Tower easement revenue was $158,858.68, and total revenues were reported as $882,916.48, an increase of $22,396.35 from 2024. Total expenditures were reported at $523,588.12, a decrease of $425,545.75 from the prior year. Fund balances as of Dec. 31, 2025 were listed; the General Fund balance was $1,171,855.14 and the total of all funds was reported as $1,841,643.61.
The council also reviewed capital expenditures: street repairs completed by Lake Township at $11,708.04 and a $5,000 purchase of a bunker rake. Street Commissioner Keith Nusbaum notified the council that he will be retiring immediately. Park Commissioner Mike Densic reported no activity for the park commission; Zoning Commissioner Mravoich said two houses are planned for Penney Lane and Circle Drive and noted a resident inquiry about rules on dog breeding.
During public comment, resident Chandra Amer of Circle Drive raised concerns about snow plowing on her street and said Republic Services had damaged the street; she also said standing water in her subdivision draws mosquitos in summer. The transcript records the mayor's discussion with Amer but does not show a formal remedy or a direct response from Republic Services in the meeting record.
Other business included a report from Councilman Larry Ellison that snow plowing on his street left only a single lane passable after completion. The council discussed a household that is putting out more trash than permitted; Republic Services had already contacted the homeowner, and the council agreed to send the household a letter and to consider publishing the village's trash rules on its website and Facebook page and placing a notice in the Suburban Press. Clerk Mike Densic reminded council members to complete required public records training once per term.
