Council approves amendment with Berkeley Schools to resolve Tyler Park drainage issues

City Attorney Brittany Krause said the amendment delineates a cost-sharing and maintenance arrangement: Oak Park and Berkeley will each maintain the drainage systems on the parcels each owns and will each cover costs incurred on those parcels. Krause said the amendment responds to a change order of $24,430.89 previously approved to improve stormwater connections and reconcile a water-main location.
Council members asked for clarification on maintenance for ball diamonds and pathways. Staff said varsity-level diamond maintenance that requires higher-level upkeep will remain the school district’s responsibility while the practice diamond and adjacent city-managed areas will be maintained by the city. After discussion, a motion to authorize the city manager to sign the amendment was moved and carried by roll call.
