Rutherford’s council used part of the Jan. 26 meeting to confirm appointments and make personnel acknowledgments.
Councilman Coakley recognized Vincent Giordano as a probationary member of Union Truck and Bucket Company No. 1 and Sean Benson as a special duty firefighter for the Rutherford Fire Department, thanking them for their service. He also promoted a youth art banner program for residents 18 and under, with a submission deadline of Feb. 10 and a theme celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
Councilman Erico announced appointments to the Board of Adjustments: Oscar Rodriguez as a full (non‑alternate) member (term expiring 12/31/2026), Danny Simone as alternate 1 (term expiring 12/31/2026) and Devin Soriano as alternate 2 (term expiring 12/31/2027).
Mayor Nunziato requested, and the council granted, consent to appoint Albert Buchholz as the 2026 camp director at a rate of $42 per hour; the motion was moved by the council president and seconded, and it passed by roll call. Councilman Coakley offered praise to the new appointees: "I thank you for your service." The council did not record any recorded objections to the personnel actions.
