Rutherford’s mayor and council enacted the consent agenda on Jan. 26, adding authorization for a multicultural festival at Lincoln Park on Sept. 19, 2026, with a rain date of Sept. 20.
Council President McGowan moved to enact the consent agenda; the motion was seconded by Councilwoman Del Ray Cone and carried on roll call. Missy read the meeting’s public notice under the open public meeting law, chapter 231, Public Laws of 1975, before the vote.
The authorization places the festival on the borough calendar; Councilman Maison asked whether the date conflicted with Rutherford Day and was told by staff that Rutherford Day is scheduled the following weekend, so there is no conflict. The council did not discuss further operational details at the meeting.
Because the item was on the consent agenda, the council approved it as part of a single motion rather than as a separate, detailed vote. The council will implement routine follow‑up and event logistics through borough staff as customary for consent‑agenda authorizations.
