Tom, a staff presenter, told the EDA the dock would integrate with the existing kayak launch on the park’s northwest side. “Specifically, we’re looking at putting in a new 4 slip transient dock at Beach Park,” Tom said, noting the system is modular and can be relocated or repurposed in future years.
Why it matters: the EDA said the dock will expand temporary boat access and support recreational use of the lake. Staff emphasized the modular design so the city can add slips now and move or reconfigure the dock later if permitting or shoreline work requires a different location.
Board members asked operational questions about installation, seasonal removal and upkeep. Staff said installation and removal are contracted with Marine Dock and Lift, which has handled the existing kayak dock; a specific price for seasonal removal was not available at the meeting and ongoing maintenance would be addressed in the general fund when needed.
The Chair called for a motion to "accept the funding of the dock as stated by Tom and Dan." A member moved and another seconded; the Chair conducted a roll call and announced the motion carried with the members present voting in favor.
Next steps: staff will proceed with procurement and scheduling for installation, and will return to the EDA or council with additional budget or contracting details if required.
