Milford City Council voted Sept. 17 to adopt a resolution certifying the property tax amounts and rates the Clermont County Budget Commission set for fiscal year 2025.
The resolution, moved by Councilman Kristopher Parrish and seconded by Councilwoman Kim Chamberland, passed on a voice vote recorded in the minutes as “All yes.” The adopted levy rates remain 3.0 mills for the General Fund, 17.0 mills for the Fire/EMS levy and 3.0 mills for the Five Points Landing Parks & Recreation levy. Clermont County’s estimates attached to the resolution project collections of $722,641 for the General Fund, $2,991,534 for Fire/EMS and $599,322 for the parks levy.
The Administrative Services Committee reviewed the proposal at its Sept. 10 meeting and recommended the Law Director draft the formal resolution for council action. Interim City Manager and Chief of Police Jamey Mills presented the packet to the committee and summarized the required annual certification process the county uses to set and report local millage.
Why it matters: the certification obligates the city to the rates the Budget Commission reported to local taxing authorities and permits the county auditor to place the levies on the tax duplicate for collection. Council members did not change the rates during the meeting; the vote confirms the city will proceed with those amounts for the 2025 fiscal year.
Other council business connected to city finances included a motion to receive the August 2024 financial report, moved by Parrish and seconded by Janet Cooper, which the council recorded as approved.
