At the April 20 New Lothrop Board of Education meeting, board President Wendy Vincke recognized multiple student and team accomplishments across athletics and FFA.
Highlights included the boys bowling team earning a No. 3 seed at the state finals and Dominick Dilts placing sixth individually and being named First Team All‑State for the second consecutive year as a sophomore. The Lady Hornet bowling team went 30‑0 during the regular season. Additional all‑conference and honorable‑mention recognitions were named during the meeting.
The FFA received several placements at state competitions: the Greenhand conduct team placed 11th (bronze), the Parliamentary Procedure team earned fifth (silver), the junior high conduct team placed 12th (silver), and the Demonstration team won first place. Sean Dammann was announced as the State FFA Secretary for 2026–27 and also won the state extemporaneous speaking contest. The board also noted several individual athletic honors and academic recognitions, and Superintendent Jay Larner announced upcoming events including the FFA banquet (April 26) and graduation (May 17).
Student council representative Micah Kisser reminded the board of student events including the Hornet Showcase (April 30) and the high school band concert (April 30) and prom on May 1. Elementary reading‑month activities and a literacy night attended by 87 families were reported by Kim Kuchar in the principal’s report.
