New Lothrop Board approves $629,000 HVAC bid, personnel moves, calendar and new elementary curricula

On April 20, 2026, the New Lothrop Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a series of routine financial and operational items, including payment of $1,179,114.73 in bills and an HVAC unit bid for the high school gym not to exceed $629,000 to be paid from the district sinking fund.
Adam Green, board member, read the monthly financial report and presented bills for payment totaling $1,179,114.73 (general fund $1,123,416.50; school service $55,698.23). He reported a beginning balance of $2,758,446.35, receipts of $1,253,248.77, expenditures of $1,179,114.73, and an ending balance of $2,842,580.39. A motion by Board Secretary Ashley Krupp to approve payment of bills, supported by Joseph Toma, carried 7‑0.
The board approved three personnel resignations and one hire. Motions carried unanimously to accept the resignations of Casadi Eckerson, GSRP lead teacher (effective April 9, 2026); Justin Skinner, varsity cross country coach (effective March 20, 2026); and Christine Hart, full‑time evening custodian (effective June 5, 2026). The board also approved hiring Christine Smith to a food service position effective April 9, 2026.
Jenn Otter moved, with Tim Birchmeier supporting, to adopt the 2026–2027 school year calendar as presented; the motion carried 7‑0. The board approved two new elementary curricula — elementary art and elementary STEM — each to begin in the 2026–2027 school year; both motions passed unanimously.
On facilities business, the board approved a bid from William Walter Mechanical for an HVAC unit for the high school gym in an amount not to exceed $629,000, to be paid from the sinking fund. The motion was made by Richard White, supported by Ashley Krupp, and carried 7‑0.
The board entered a closed session at 7:29 p.m. and returned to open session at 8:27 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:28 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 18, 2026, in the High School Media Center.
