Lyon County Fairboard approves entertainment contracts, bids Sunbelt/Herc rentals and moves to print fair book

The Lyon County Fairboard met June 3, 2026, at the Lyon County Fairgrounds and unanimously adopted the meeting agenda and approved the May 6 minutes. The minutes record that Curtis Jordan called the meeting to order at 7:03; the attendance list later records him as absent.
The board approved a lease for Nieto Entertainment to stage a bull-riding event and concert, setting the event fee at $600 and a $500 cleaning fee, after a motion by Fairboard member Stefanie Moxley and a second from Fairboard member Eric Glasglow. The motion carried unanimously.
Fairboard members also approved a $1,300 contract for the Saturday-night band Lost Reverends. The motion to approve the band contract was made by Fairboard member Mindy Flaar and seconded by Fairboard member Paul Silva; the motion carried unanimously.
On procurement, Fairboard member Paul Silva moved — and Mindy Flaar seconded — to request a bid from Sunbelt Rentals and, if Sunbelt’s quote is higher, to proceed with the existing Herc Rentals bid because of timing constraints. The motion carried unanimously. Lisa Tibbals said she had received a bid from Herc Rentals and would seek a Sunbelt quote, noting the fair timeline is tight.
The board reviewed the fair book layout and directed staff to move forward with printing. Tibbals said she will contact the ATM vendor (Leslie) to confirm the machine will be on site Thursday morning and stocked with cash for the weekend. Tibbals also said she is working on awards and buckles for fair competitions.
The board discussed plans for Hispanic Day; Tibbals reported she had reached out to the local committee and that Omar Rodriques indicated limited interest at this time. The board agreed printing brochures in Spanish would be beneficial; Tibbals will pursue a Spanish version of the brochure.
There was no update on the 2026 livestock show. On facilities, Tibbals reported county crews and trustees have worked at the fairgrounds twice and additional trustee workdays are scheduled in July; sign repair in the main arena is planned.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
