Lynnfield Select Board sets April 28 town meeting, opens warrant and approves routine items; appoints special counsel

The Lynnfield Select Board voted unanimously on March 9 to set its annual town meeting for Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Lynnfield Middle School and to open the meeting warrant with a petition-article submission deadline of Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. and a warrant closing of 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23. The motions were made by Vice Chair Alexis Leahy and seconded by Member Richard Dalton.
The actions carried a string of routine approvals. The board approved the warrant for the annual town election as presented by the Town Clerk, renewed seasonal liquor licenses for Sagamore Golf, King Rail Golf Course and Reedy Meadow Golf Course, and accepted the resignation of Bruce Glinski from the LIFE, Inc. Board of Directors; Chair Philip Crawford thanked Glinski for his service. All votes were unanimous.
In a separate action, the board voted to appoint Rubin and Rudman LLP as special town counsel in a matter stemming from an Enforcement Order issued by the Lynn Conservation Commission on Nov. 22, 2023 concerning work near Judge Road in Lynn. The motion to appoint special counsel was made by Vice Chair Alexis Leahy and seconded by Member Richard Dalton and passed unanimously.
The board adopted proclamations recognizing Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month and Arbor Day. Vice Chair Leahy read the autism proclamation; Assistant Town Administrator emeritus Bob Curtin read the Arbor Day proclamation. The board also approved use-of-facilities requests for three community events: A Healthy Lynnfield Community Health Fair on May 2, 2026, the Lynnfield Art Guild Spring Art Festival on May 9, 2026, and a Little Treasures Schoolhouse preschool graduation and spring concert on June 11, 2026, subject to any conditions imposed by the Public Works Director and the chief of police.
Before leaving open session the board moved twice to enter executive session under MGL Chapter 30 Section 21(a)(3) to discuss litigation strategy; roll call votes on the executive session motions recorded Member Richard Dalton — yes; Vice Chair Alexis Leahy — yes; Chair Philip Crawford — yes. The chair announced there would be no further open session and the board entered executive session at 6:15 p.m.; two executive sessions were conducted.
