At the March 10 quarterly meeting, the General Employees Pension Board approved an updated Summary Plan Description (SPD) and ratified routine warrant payments.
Bonnie Jensen (S6), who presented the SPD updates, told trustees the document was revised "to match your new, statutory new code provision" and added administrative clarifications about filing for retirement. Jensen said the SPD sets expectations that participants should "think about coming in before retirement" and that it may take up to 60 days after retirement to receive a first pension check. She also confirmed updated IRS provisions were incorporated.
Following discussion about board terms and the appointment process for the fifth member, a trustee (S5) moved to approve the SPD; the motion was seconded (second not clearly recorded in the transcript) and the board voted in favor. The chair announced the motion passed.
On the consent agenda, the board approved payment and ratification of warrant number 97 after a motion to repay the bills and an affirmative vote.
Other administrative notes recorded during staff reports included a change in mileage reimbursement from 60¢ to 70¢ per mile and the adoption of a shared quorum email address (quorum@foster-foster.com) to ensure continuity of meeting notices. The meeting adjourned at 10:56 a.m.
The board did not adopt any other new policies at the session; staff indicated they would check the ordinance for the SPD effective date and return with any needed clarifications.
