Solano supervisors adopt a series of recognition resolutions for public‑safety personnel, childcare providers and older adults

The Solano County Board of Supervisors opened its meeting with a series of ceremonial proclamations and recognitions.

Item 1: the board adopted a resolution recognizing May 4–10, 2025 as Correctional Officers and Correctional Employees Appreciation Week in Solano County; Sheriff Tom Ferraro and department staff accepted and highlighted rehabilitation and vocational training programs.

Item 2: the board adopted a resolution recognizing May 7, 2025 as Peace Officer Memorial Day and May 11–17 as National Police Officer Appreciation Week. Officials read the names of fallen county peace officers and invited the public to a memorial ceremony.

Item 3: the board adopted a resolution proclaiming May 9, 2025 as Child Care Provider Appreciation Day. Representatives from First 5 Solano, Solano Family & Children’s Services, Solano College and the Family Child Care Association described provider shortages and recent work to create new child‑care spaces.

Item 4: the board adopted a resolution recognizing May 2025 as Older Americans Month; county aging services staff described programs that serve more than 100,000 residents over age 60.

In a separate brief item, the county presented an employee‑of‑the‑month award for the county administration center parking program and accepted the department’s presentation.

Each of the recognized resolutions was adopted by a unanimous (5‑0) vote. These actions were ceremonial and informational; no policy changes were made as part of the proclamations.
