The Maria Reiner Center Board of Directors convened at 8:50 a.m. May 28 at the Maria Reiner Center, 705 B. 4th Street in Hobart, and approved routine business items unanimously.
Board President Trey Gilliana called the meeting to order and the board approved the April 30 minutes on a motion by Lynn Kostbade, seconded by Carol Heikema; the minutes record the outcome as all aye, motion carried (7-0). The agenda was approved on a motion by Heikema, seconded by Kelsey Perry (all aye, 7-0).
Executive Director Aimee Schallenkamp reviewed forthcoming programs and community events. The minutes record a Father’s Day luncheon scheduled in the minutes as May 8 and sponsored for pizza by Saint Anthony Majestic Care and for desserts and punch by Dunes Hospice and Traditions Health. Schallenkamp also said a Book Barn will start up at the Thursday summer markets and that several members have enrolled in a Residential Rebate program that Mayor Josh discussed on his monthly program; the minutes do not specify participant counts or rebate amounts.
Board member Kelsey Perry proposed a community program on property titles and wills involving Chicago Title and Ginter Realty, and raised the possibility of a two-day Christmas Market that would use concessions and sell food — she noted the board would need to confirm scheduling and permissions with the Parks Department before proceeding.
