Chickasaw County supervisors approve wage correction, accept DNR landfill plan and authorize bridge grants

The board then approved a fiscal year 2026–27 wage correction for an EMS employee identified in the record as "Sharon E." setting her hourly wage at $25.65. Chair read a June 24, 2026 letter from the Department of Natural Resources that approved a two-year trial shutdown of the county landfill's leachate collection system, subject to monthly monitoring of leachate-tank levels, inspection of piping and seep areas, and a summary and decommissioning plan to be submitted to the DNR by July 14, 2028. County engineer Roman told the board the county had two bridge projects included in Competitive Highway Bridge Program grant awards: one roughly $1,670,680 project and a second about $528,000, for approximately $2.2 million in grant funds that could cover up to 80% of construction costs. "So about $2,200,000 in grant," Roman said. The board authorized the chair to sign the Iowa DOT federal-aid agreement for those projects (motion by Scott, second Travis); the recorded vote was unanimous among members present.
The board also approved an amendment to a November 2022 services agreement with MercyOne that removes a provision to provide cell phones under Exhibit A; the chair was authorized to sign the amendment after a motion by Isaac and a second by Scott.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn at 09:38; the roll call returned four ayes. No formal dissent or tie votes were recorded.
