After returning from executive session the City of Weatherford Municipal Utility Board authorized the city manager to negotiate and execute master power‑purchase agreements (PPAs) with several energy suppliers, following review by the board’s legal counsel.
Board member Walter made the motion to authorize the city manager to negotiate and execute master PPAs with AxPro US LLC, BP Energy Company, LCRA Wholesale Energy Services Corporation, Macquarie Energy LLC, NextEra Energy Marketing LLC and Shell Energy North America. Ken Davis seconded the motion, and the board voted to approve it.
Chair Lindsey Hester said the motion passed after the electronic vote. The item followed an executive session held under Texas Government Code section 551.086 to discuss competitive wholesale power supply matters.
The authorization directs the city manager to negotiate and execute agreements subject to legal review; the motion, as recorded in the meeting minutes, did not specify contract amounts, terms or the vote tally by individual member in the transcript. Staff will return with final agreements for legal review and execution.
