At its regular meeting on Aug. 18, 2025, the Winston R‑VI School Board handled a series of routine agenda items and unanimously approved each motion recorded in the transcript.
Presiding board member Hydi Sheetz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Board member Aaron Piburn moved to approve the meeting agenda; Wyatt Christensen seconded and the motion passed 6–0. Piburn then moved to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Christensen; that motion also passed 6–0.
The board then unanimously approved several formal actions: it extended the Board of Education vacancy application deadline to Sept. 10 (motion by Hydi Sheetz, seconded by Wyatt Christensen); readopted the conflict-of-interest ordinance as provided by the Missouri Ethics Commission (motion by Hydi Sheetz, seconded by Donita Youtsey); and approved the district’s 2025–26 bus route (motion by Hydi Sheetz, seconded by Wyatt Christensen). Karla Youtsey moved to adjourn at 7:50 p.m.; Donita Youtsey seconded and the board adjourned the meeting. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 17 at 7:00 p.m.
Why it matters: extending the vacancy deadline increases the application window for candidates to fill a board seat; readopting the Missouri Ethics Commission conflict-of-interest ordinance affirms the board’s adherence to state ethics guidance; approving the bus route finalizes student-transportation plans for the coming school year.
