The Mount Pleasant Public School Board of Education ratified a tentative two-year master agreement with the Mount Pleasant Education Association (MPEA) at its May 4 meeting.
Administration summarized the negotiated terms in the packet: the agreement covers structural contract language (duration and start date), revisions to the professional grievance process, clarifications to leave and bereavement language, adjustments to how specials teachers'FTE are calculated, updates to insurance provisions, and removal of pilot language now that OASIS teachers are regular employees. The agreement runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028.
The tentative agreement does not resolve wages; both sides will open wage negotiations in November of each year (November 2026 and November 2027) after audits and budget approvals to ensure negotiations use current fiscal data, administration said.
A motion to ratify the tentative agreement was moved and seconded. One trustee announced an abstention; the remaining trustees voted in favor by roll call and the ratification carried.
Administration said bargaining involved both sides' teams and was collaborative; the board thanked negotiators for their work. The ratified agreement and detailed contract language are included in the board packet.
