Mayor Yergan used the June 25 council meeting to highlight recent fire-training collaboration and preview a slate of summer events and safety plans. He thanked Green Fire, the Ohio Fire Academy and the nonprofit Female Firefighters of Ohio for training that included 19 women fire medics, and said such training builds rapport and readiness for the city's fire staff.
Yergan previewed events in Central Park and Butler Park, including a concert series and Freedom Fest on June 29 at Butler Park with live music, family activities and a fireworks display (rain date for fireworks only: June 30). He said the city will not cancel the event unless weather or safety conditions require it, and he emphasized planned public-safety measures: a strong sheriff presence, mounted and K-9 units and additional deputies for community engagement and site patrol.
The mayor also announced upcoming ADA-focused public meetings to solicit feedback on accessibility recommendations for city parks on July 17 (5:30 p.m., Central Park Community Hall) and July 18 (9:30 a.m., council chambers). He reminded residents that city offices will be closed July 4 for the holiday. Council members thanked the mayor for the updates.
