The Friends of the Weatherford Public Library voted to adopt a quarterly meeting schedule, moving regular meetings to the fourth Monday at 1:00 p.m. and allowing special meetings if urgent issues arise. Committee member who moved the schedule said the change responded to persistent quorum difficulties: "we were making quorum about once a year on average," a board member said during discussion.
The motion to approve the adjusted schedule was made by a committee member and was carried by voice vote. Board members discussed flexibility for budget-related items and the possibility of scheduling an extra meeting in April for budget discussions. One member asked whether the change would limit the board’s ability to act quickly; the board agreed special sessions could be called when necessary.
The board also noted the new timing had produced improved attendance at this meeting and that staff will continue to consider calendar conflicts (school calendars, fiscal-year deadlines) when setting dates. The adopted schedule will appear on the board’s calendar and staff said they will propose adjustments if conflicts arise.
The board approved the motion during the meeting and adjourned after completing the agenda.
