Shelter posts strong second-quarter stats; free microchip days and vaccination clinics planned

Kinsey Reddington presented the shelter's second-quarter statistics and several community service offerings scheduled for late June.
Reddington said the shelter serviced 1,845 animals in the quarter (about 21 per day), recorded 443 adoptions and 193 returns to owners. She said rescue partners pulled 223 animals and the shelter processed 576 TNR and barn cats. Volunteers logged more than 2,200 hours in the quarter, and Reddington reported medical services of over 6,200 vaccinations and medications distributed, 1,155 spay/neuter surgeries and 740 microchips.
The manager said the shelter plans to offer free microchipping to residents from June 24 through June 28 with no appointment required, noting the timing ahead of July 4 fireworks. She also described recent vaccination clinics and said one recent clinic administered about 104 vaccinations.
Reddington described the quarter's average live-release rate as about 92.62% (rounded to 93% in remarks) and noted that the earlier-reported rooster seizure will reduce the next published percentage if included in the calculation.
Committee members asked clarifying questions about report timing and public posting; staff said the Q2 report will be published on the shelter website and Facebook page later the same day.
