At the recommendation of the superintendent, the board moved and approved education/curriculum items (E2526 series) by roll call. The board also approved budget items (B2526 series) after a second and roll-call vote. Budget committee chair (speaker 15) told the board the committee has prepared a tentative budget for 2026'27, noting pressures from rising health-benefits costs (projected increases mentioned informally during the meeting), contractual obligations and utility expenses; despite those pressures, the committee reported it has preserved current staff positions while making reductions to supply and discretionary accounts. The committee expects to receive state aid figures on March 12 and will finalize its revisions.
Facilities and operations (F2526.10) and policy items (POL2526.62) were likewise moved and passed by roll call. On personnel, the superintendent noted one paraprofessional retirement (Paco Begna), effective April 2, as part of a personnel package that the board approved.
Motions for a short break, to open and close public comment for agenda items, and to adjourn were also moved, seconded and approved during the meeting. No substantive public comment was received on agenda items or during the public portion of the meeting.
The approvals recorded during this meeting were procedural votes on board recommendations; any program expansions, calendar changes, or purchases discussed during the superintendent's report will be considered separately and could require future board action pending budget decisions.
