The Oneida County Forestry, Land & Recreation Committee elected Briggs as vice chair and completed routine housekeeping June 2 in Rhinelander. Committee members unanimously approved the amended agenda and the minutes of the May 12 meeting before proceeding to reports and updates.
Rady reported May stumpage revenue of $91,022.91, bringing year-to-date stumpage receipts to $314,613.30; staff noted there are four active timber-sale jobs and that the Mosinee mill is no longer accepting softwood pulpwood. Tanya Tischendorf, committee secretary and forestry staff, said invoices paid and budget-to-actual reports for May will be delayed to the next meeting because the committee schedule moved earlier in the month.
Nemec told the committee that a Girl Scouts project will remove knapweed at Townline Lake Park and reported that the Almon Park beach toilet/changing room roof replacement project is complete; staff have received positive feedback about removal of a beach retaining wall. Nemec also alerted members that several upcoming land issues—access licenses, encroachment, and deer-stand violations—will be brought to future meetings.
Sydney Kottke, WDNR liaison, said Oneida County is at 104% of DNR allowed annual labor-hour standards and that seasonal fire staffing is ending after nine fires that burned approximately 4.46 acres. Kottke said the Rhinelander team will continue to assist with reconnaissance and establishment; she added DNR wildlife biologist Rollman was unavailable but communicated that the Whitetail grant is nearly ready to submit.
The committee scheduled its next meeting for June 7, 2026, and listed agenda items including May invoices paid and budget-to-actual reports and access license agreements. The committee then entered and returned from a closed session under Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(e) to discuss negotiation topics including the Luber Lane cell tower lease; the committee announced approval of closed-session minutes from April 14, 2026 and adjourned at 10:58 a.m.
