County staff explained AHAC’s composition and statutory role: "The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee is a state mandated board, and they, develop recommendations, looking for ways for the county to provide more affordable housing in the community," staff said, noting AHAC includes one sitting planning commission member and a member of the Board of County Commissioners as well as community representatives.
Commissioners discussed attendance and liaison responsibilities. One commissioner encouraged colleagues to attend AHAC meetings and asked staff to present AHAC updates to the planning commission when appropriate. County staff reminded commissioners that if multiple planning commissioners attend and engage in back‑and‑forth on issues reasonably foreseeable to come before the board, that could trigger notice requirements under the Sunshine Law and advised noticing such ongoing engagement to avoid quorum and notice concerns.
The reappointment was carried by voice vote. The commission did not specify any additional conditions or a next meeting date for AHAC items to be presented to the planning commission.
