The magistrate upheld a $300 total citation against the owner of a restaurant at 2900 S. Ridgewood Avenue (Popeyes) for repeat false‑alarm offenses; staff recommended two citations of $150 each and no daily fines because the business had addressed the problem.
For repeat or habitual violations where abatement occurred before the hearing, the magistrate confirmed that daily fines would not be assessed while abatements remained complete. For properties that remain noncompliant, the magistrate ordered daily fines and directed owners to contact code enforcement to arrange inspections; several orders also noted the city’s authority to abate and assess costs if owners fail to comply.
