At its Sept. 19, 2024 meeting, the Eagle Township Board adopted Resolution 09-19-2024-02 to approve the Master Plan with non‑substantial edits and passed Resolution 09-19-2024-04 adopting a zoning fee schedule. The zoning fee schedule includes a provision to stop permit processing until escrow funds are replenished. Both measures passed on unanimous roll call votes.
Supervisor Troy Stroud moved to reappoint Eric Sutherland and John Iszler to three‑year terms on the Eagle Township Planning Commission through July 31, 2027; the motion carried. Trustee Michelle Hoppes commended a Sept. 10 joint meeting of the board and planning commission where members discussed wind, solar and battery storage ordinance language. Chris Khorey of McKenna Associates will follow up on the draft ordinance that was provided by the law firm Foster Swift; the planning commission will review the draft and then forward recommended language to the township board.
The new zoning fee schedule and Master Plan adoption are administrative steps the board characterized as aligning planning practice and fee recovery with current permit processing needs. The board also approved several routine administrative items during the meeting, including an 11x17 newsletter to be mailed with the winter tax bill and placement of a key log and distribution plan for new hall locks.
Next steps: The planning commission will review the Foster Swift draft ordinance and forward recommendations to the township board; McKenna Associates will continue to support ordinance drafting and follow‑up.
